Eco-Activist Beit Midrash at the Emek Refraim Eco-Fair, October 8th

On October 8th, Friday before Parshat Noach, The Eco- Activist Beit Midrash is participating in an Eco-Fair on Emek Refaim.

This is part of the global Parshat Noach Eco-Awareness activities. There will be classes  (English class at 11am), a Green Parade down Emek Refaim, kids activities and booths for both organizations and green products.

We cannot afford to pay the excellent teachers that staff this program without a minimum number of women registered for the course. We know that the Chaggim is a busy period for everyone and that many people are still trying to figure out their schedules. Payment and Registration: Each course costs 240 NIS for each 8 week session. Payments can be made in one, two, or three installments. Registration must be accompanied by a 100 NIS payment and commitment to a payment plan for the balance. In order that we be fair to our staff of teachers, students must register by September 21st (just two weeks from now) for Session 1 courses. We need eight students to register per course. Some very partial work-study scholarships may be available, based on need. Those who register for all five courses (the full Women's Chabura Program) will be able to attend all other Community Learning Program Classes at YSS, free of charge. Women's Chabura Courses Now Open to the Public at Yeshiva Simchat Shlomo!

The new Women's Chabura has been running for the past three weeks. Taught by our superb teachers: Leah Golomb, Rebbetzin Silber, and Rav David Fink, the learning has been deep and invigorating. We've put in our best effort, including a lot of human and financial resources, towards making the Chabura successful.

We've decided to open the Chabura to the public, so that students may register on a course by course basis. We hope thereby to allow for the continuation of these classes.

Anyone who was interested in any of the courses but was unable to commit to the full schedule of the Chabura, can attend individual courses of their choice. There will be three eight-week sessions from now until Pesach.

Session 1: October 5th – November 24th Register by September 21st
Session 2: December 14th – Feburary 2nd Register by November 16th
Session 3: Feburary 8th - April 6th Register by Janurary 18th

The payis building in maale adumim is located one but stop after the mall. (Ask the bus driver to drop you at the library) then cross the street and walk to the right and after the bushes clear look for the "Matnas" building on the left hand side. The binyan hapayis is behind the Matnas on the left side. Or just ask people where the "eshkol haPayis" is. (The bus driver should also know where the eshkol haPayis is.
Buses to maale adumim leave from benyanei hauma and from sar yisroel (across the street from shaarei ha'ir building) every 15-30 minutes. You can take the 174 or 175. The 177 goes too but it's about a 5 minute longer walk. (If you willing to ask someone to tell you when to get off to get to the eshkol hapayis and where to go then it's fine)

We are excited to host the wonderful Shir Yaakov, briefly visiting from New York, for an intimate concert.

A non-denominational rabbi, teacher and musician, Shir has written 300 poems and released six albums of original music, including his first full-length CD, "Zeh", hot off the press. In his music, Shir weaves a tapestry of Kabbalistic wisdom, contemporary songwriting and deeply personal spirituality. He draws his inspiration from Torah, prayer and human relationship.

The concert is at the Nature Museum in the German Colony. Entrance is through the parking lot at Hamagid st (the one near the back entrance of the ICCY). We will try to put up signs so look out for them.
